The steppe lake is 180 ha in area with a water surface area of 120 ha and lies between Lake Neusiedl and the Hungarian border in the middle of the Seewinkel. It derives its name from its bed – the muddy lake-bed consists not only of sulphur and sodium sulphate but also soda ash, which is known in the local dialect as “Zick”.
Families in particular love the lake due to its shallowness, with a maximum depth of 1,6m. However, surfers also value the lake due to the numerous strong wind days which occur here. The Zicksee is also ideal for windsurfing beginners, those learning water starts and speed surfers, as one can stand easily in it.
Another plus is the pleasant water temperature of the steppe lake. The low water levels mean that the water temperature in summer reaches well over 20° Celsius. The bicarbonate-rich water has healing properties and is especially beneficial for skin and rheumatic diseases.
The loveliest swimming lake in the Seewinkel area is a real leisure time paradise for families. The pleasant water temperature, shallow depth and a spacious berthing area make the Zicksee a fixed star in holiday heaven. The beach area with its flat, reed-free bank is ideal for families with children.
The water of the Zicksee is very popular for its healing qualities. The bicarbonate-rich water is especially beneficial for skin and rheumatic diseases.
Fun and activity are also very important in St. Andrä am Zicksee and with a big waterslide, a beach volleyball court, a modern children’s playground and a multi-sport complex with volleyball, street hockey and rollerskating park they are guaranteed. In addition a camping ground, boat hire, a windsurfing school and fishing spots add to the holiday bliss.
